I have had this made just this way and it is delicious. I never get tired of eating this and super easy to make. My kids like it as well.

If you boil the turkey it will get out all the fat and is healthier. Same with ground beef. Sounds gross but is actually extremely good!

If you use the Tupperware Microsteamer, all the fat in the meat cooks out and its more tasty than if you boil your meat.

Donna I never boil my hambuger but what I do is cook it and then drin the fat and rinse well put back into the pan and go from there .This gets most of the fat out .I’ve never tried ground turkey but I love turkey so I don’t think I’ll have a problem with it .ordering the book and getting ready to lose 50 plus lbs .

How about using deer(venison) instead. It’s real low in fat, too.

I just ordered the 17 day diet and i have tried everything we’ll see what happens. Good luck to everyone who is in the process of doing it. My suggestion please don’t boil all the nutrients out of the turkey which is already very low in fat.

boiling meat is great. Just add water and boil til browned, than drain, works well in chili also. Its like the meat you get, or use to get at taco bell.

To reduce the salt in this dish, skip the packaged taco mix. Instead, I use about a tablespoon each of chili powder and cumin, a squirt of tomato paste (from the tube) and a half cup of unsalted chicken stock. You can adjust the seasonings to suit your family’s taste and have all the flavor without all that salt.

Ground goat meat is also very low in fat and would be a tasty alternative to turkey meat.

Though I am not a lover of ground meat, I usually use ground turkey. This recipe sounds easy, healthy and do-able. Waiting for my book to arrive. I read/heard somewhere that if you add chopped apples to ground turkey it keeps it from getting tough. Applesauce works as well; simply add it while it is cooking (I just don’t tell anyone).
